NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 22, 2014) – The Oak Ridge Boys’ iconic hit, “Elvira” is taking to the airwaves on CBS’ award-winning Mike & Molly show. It’s scheduled for Monday, August 25th at 9:00 pm (Eastern). The plot for the “Mike’s Manifold Destiny” episode has an unforgettable “Elvira” twist where Mike learns a lesson after his car breaks down and he’s forced to decide whether or not to accept a loan from Carl to fix it.

Mike & Molly’s Billy Gardell and Melissa McCarthy star as the title characters of the show. The CBS sitcom was created by producer/writer Mark Roberts. It’s slated to enter its fifth season this fall, featuring its 100th episode.

duaneallenLegendary Group Announced as Honorary Texans by Governor of Lone Star State

Carthage, TX (August 13, 2014) – Oak Ridge Boys lead singer Duane Allen has received high honors from his native Lone Star State. The award-winning singer/songwriter/producer has been inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame and named an honorary Admiral in the Texas Navy by Governor Rick Perry. Oak Ridge Boys members Joe Bonsall, William Lee Golden and Richard Sterban shared the spotlight by being proclaimed as honorary Texans.

The 17th annual celebration was held in Carthage, Texas and included a special concert by The Oak Ridge Boys along with free tours of the Hall of Fame museum which features an exhibit on Duane Allen’s extraordinary life and musical journey with the Oaks. Texas Country Music Hall of Fame founder Tommie Ritter Smith describes the inclusion of all four Oaks members into the induction ceremony as a reflection of Allen’s heart and East Texas roots. “He’s the one that was being inducted. But, he wanted all of the other members to be honored right along with him. So, The Oak Ridge Boys were proudly named honorary Texans,” she explains.

East Texas Boy to be inducted into state Hall

53e29fe08229a.preview-300Longview News Journal - East Texas native Duane Allen and the rest of the Oak Ridge Boys will perform Saturday as Allen is inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in Carthage.

“(Allen) is the one being inducted,” Hall of Fame founder Tommie Ritter Smith said of the Taylor Town native. “And he wanted the others to be honored with him.”

The 17th annual country music celebration stretches over two nights, with a 30-act showcase and contest set Friday. And while shows are in the Carthage Civic Center, music fans can tour a renovated Hall of Fame that has added 3,000 square feet to its museum. A grand opening is planned in the fall after all of its ribbons are tied and baubles are hung — and a memorial to Mount Pleasant rancher and country legend Ray Price is in place.

“The museum will be open,” Ritter said this week. “And the museum tours will be free all weekend.”

Although fellow Oak Ridge Boys Richard Sterban, Joe Bonsall and William Lee Golden sprouted beyond the Lone Star State, they won’t be foreigners after the weekend — at least not symbolically.
